I've been a vet for 24 years, most of them right here in Tucson.

I have 2 dogs and 1 cat. This is Mojo and me in the spring of 2008. He's a Lab mix and is turning 10 this fall. He was an engagement present from my wife.

JaRoop is our 13 year old Russian Blue cat.

He's very friendly, likes people, and follows me around the house; my friends say he's a dog in a catsuit.

It's been almost a year since Roop was diagnosed with chronic kidney failure, one of the most common scourges of older cats. It's no longer a death sentence, though; new therapies are available that keep our feline renal patients happy for a long time.

Zamboni is half Australian Shepherd and half Border Collie. She was a gift from my friend and client Patty, and will turn 9 this October 4th, which is St Francis Day!

This is Jake. He died in our home on Thanksgiving Day, 2006, at the age of 15. It was the saddest Thanksgiving ever. Jake introduced me to the woman who was to become my wife way back when he wasn't much more than a puppy, so I will always owe him a huge debt of gratitude.

Thanks, Jake. I'll always love you.

(Jake began developing difficulty walking with his back legs when he was about 11 -- it's one of the most common end-of-life diseases dogs get. Thanks to modern medicines, Jake lived many years after diagnosis, walking and playing comfortably with a good quality of life.)

Our Gypsy dog died 4 years ago, but we still miss her. She's got her own website.

Let's see, what else? Nadia and I, at right, got married in April, 2004. Pictures of our wedding are available here.

My friend Lee Allen wrote a really nice article about me for the Arizona Daily Star, it's available here.

And that's my story. If you want to know more, take a look at my resume.
